Scrabble anyone?

There was a time when we used to play a lot of Scrabble. There were hours dedicated to the game. Then came chess which I really tried to learn but failed miserably. Pictionary followed. Every get together we had at home or at a friend's place would have the entire group fighting...why can't you guess what I drew...oh hell we lost because of so and so. Ahem...so much so that a good friend stopped playing it with us because he was scared that our group might actually harm each other, physically:))

Taboo came next. It didn't require any drawing skills and most men in the group were happy about it. ( And by that I don't mean that men can't draw, only the ones in our group sucked:))

And then all my girlfriends and yours truly had babies. Its been three years and we haven't managed a single game of ANYTHING. The chats are interspersed with general mummy calls, diaper changes, food timings and in general what little children do best...make noise:)

One day we will play again:) Amen.

Let's Colour Project!

Imagine a box of paints...

Now imagine colouring the entire city with it...the houses, the streets...et al

Alright, now you may stop imagining. Why? Because all this is happening for REAL. Yes! Its the "Let's Colour Project". A few days back I got an e-mail from Raj Bilkhu from the Let's Colour Project. Its a worldwide initiative to transform grey spaces with colourful paint. 

Dulux has launched this vibrant project. its a wonderful way to bring in colour...loads of it into people's lives, inspire them and regenerate their surroundings with a splash of color.Let’s Colour projects begins in Rio De Janerio before moving onto Paris on the 19^th March, London on the 20^th March and India on the 2^nd April, as part of a colour movement spreading around the world.

It kicked off in Brazil last weekend and saw the Lapa stairs in Rio de Janeiro ( Before they transform the grey concrete architecture of Aulnay-sous-Bois at Paris with an array of hot oranges and reds tomorrow!) transforming into an art piece. Sitting here I can imagine the smile it must have brought to each face. 

Want to see what they did in Lapa? THIS! Such a lovely riot of colours!

So where do I come in? Well, I am going to ask you lovely readers for some help to do what I need to do! Spread the word around, Volunteer or just encourage them.

And.

Most importantly suggest some streets, buildings, locations where they can do the same in the beautiful state of Rajasthan! Leave me a comment or be a part of the discussion here.

Lovely Ideas for kiddy rooms

Isn't this a brilliant idea for a girl's room? Two rolling pins to hang her pretty trinkets? God! How cute are these...they even have pink handles ;)

And how about an oar instead of the regular curtain rod? I am sure every child who loves water would love this!

I came across these mugs and LURVED them! Someone match my coffee! Instead of asking people how strong do you like your coffee/tea, isn't it cool to ask them what color do they like their coffee/tea...brillant!

Stunning Centerpieces

I simply love it when flowers are arranged in all sorts of stuff thats lying around the house. The "flower vase" is just so boring. And the kitchen is such a lovely treasure chest when it comes to finding "Vases" to display them. Be it an Ice bucket or a Beer mug or a Silver Icecream bowl, they add so much to character to the centerpiece, don't they?

I came across these on realsimple and loved them. With Christmas and New Year's round the corner, and lovely winters that are begging us to host get-togethers, it sure would be fun to try some of these.

Who says Jelly molds are only for meant for jellies, take out those cake tins, cookie tins, I say!

A Galvanized tub dressed up with leaves, its making me salivate! The worn out look is my fav!

Napkin Origami...now this is taking creativity to another level. Just imagine this teenie weenie shirt and tie on your dinner plate...cute..eh? I came across this book and had to put it up here for all of you. You know how I simply love it when everyday objects are transformed into art and this was presentation at its very best. Brian Sawyer who has edited the book had some pictures on his site which I was more than happy to devour. For those of you who want to purchase it (It has 25 such exciting projects, all begging to be tried), it can be done right here. Till then enjoy these lovelies...

Hello Whitechina !

I can see the universe conspiring...yes I am sure...Its a ploy to make me buy white china, otherwise why would I be coming across such innovative white tableware stuff everywhere I look ,when I have always disliked it. See more posts on white tableware here and here.

Just look at these babies...I LURVE these whimsical pieces of art. How about adding some humour to your wine glasses and plates. I am definitely going to use this idea and do my version of this...white china, here I come!

Creating masterpieces out of the ordinary

I am loving these masterpieces created out of everyday stuff. Just look at this whimsical chandelier made out of shuttlecocks...pretty isn't it? This one has been created by Designer Gitta Schwendtner.

I bet you can't even guess what this chandlier is made up of. Here...here... let me give it away, plastic bags...yes the same ones that have been banned at Delhi. Spectacular!! British Designer Monica Hughes has created this warm and feathery lamp.

Ooooo...these super cute blossoms are made out of spoons. Designer Francois Legault is the guy behind them. Won't they look ultra cool above my dining table or even in my kitchen?

My favorite...or wait, those cute spoons are my favorite too ;) Created by artist Tracey Johnson these lights are made up of wine crates that she collected. She cut them up to mimic branches of trees and retained the wine company logos. Wow, now that is really neat!

I am loving this piece of art. It is made from industrial wool felt. The Eggflat has been conceived and designed by the designer, Josh Jakus. Sculptural and practical ( it effortlessly folds flat for storage).Won't it look really nice with some fruits, knick knacks or how about little muffins ;)

The straws are meant to model xylem, the trees capillaries, and just so happen to create jewel-esque glow. Wow what a creation!

Perfect for decor and function

Slates or chalk boards…I have always had a fondness for them. They remind me of the great time I had at school. I can write, wipe and re-write my thoughts and my numerous “to-do lists” on them (I am the queen of to-do lists if I may say so). I love the smell of chalk. And in these days of smses and emails they take me back to the lovely old world of handwritten notes.

So when chalkboards and décor come together its only natural for me to get excited. I came across these here.
