One issue. Three Covers.

This post is long due. December has almost come to an end and I have been wanting to share the very interesting initiative from Good Homes with all of you.

To commemorate their special art issue, they asked artists Aarohi Singh, Nilofer Suleman and Viveek Sharma to render their “homeward” thoughts on canvas for their cover. The result—three stunning, hand-painted covers for the December issue. 3 different covers for a single issue. Pretty interesting! These exclusive paintings have been created by these artists for GoodHomes.

I have to admit I am partial when it comes to Aarohi. Not only is she a wonderful person but ofcourse a great artist. I had the pleasure of interacting with her some years back for an article that I was working on and have been following her awesome work through her blog. I love her cover?

Which one do you heart? They are all outstanding...aren't they?

Enjoy going through the magazine and admiring the three covers:)

Oh and continuing with spreading the holiday cheer Good Homes is also running a handmade Christmas card contest.Find all the deets here

Wishing everyone a safe holiday season. I will be back soon.

And now for some red

I have always felt shy of using red in the house.Red for me always translates into something really bold which I may not be able to live with for a very long time. But when I came across Design Consultant Ellen O'Neill's work I was smitten.

This softer side of red got me thinking and I' like to share some glimpses of this stunning & weathered home with you. Get ready for an ample dose of red goodness.

Pale red stripes & checks for the bedding.
That lovely wicker basket to store all the red sheets.
God! there are even red slip-ons to match the room. Pretty ain't it?

This time its red prints that find their way into the guest room. She says working with a restrained palette in red & white makes shopping for bedsheets & other linen easier. You can use any sheet - any curtain in any room :)

Can the accessories be anything but red? Isn't this Chinese lantern to die for?

Faded red has never looked so good.
The urns, the slipcovers. the throw...no two reds are the same

Loving those red floor cushions. And that dog...awww!

Ah! How about for some stripey love in the bathroom?

Even the outdoors have a hint of red. Love that hammock!

To see more of this ethereal home jump right here.

How about you? Can you live with one color (of course in varying shades) through out your home? What color would it be?

Seven must watch films for any food lover

Anyone who knows me well, will tell you that I love to cook and FEED my family and friends. Cooking for me is a form of art and I like to pour all my love and creativity into it for people who mean the world to me. Lots of my lovely memories are to do with food and I am addicted to celebrating all our special moments with food.

I was at Bangalore last week and bought this magazine called Food Lovers and read an awesome article by Kaveri Ponnapa called “Feasting and Fasting on Film”. I just had to put this up here. "The seven movies mentioned below are a must watch", she says. I have seen some and have intentions of catching the rest very very soon. Enjoy!

Trend Alert

This morning while browsing through Elle Decor i read about this Trend Alert, Floral patterns are IN. They say "Flowers burst into full bloom on the season’s prettiest designs, from delicately painted tableware to boldly patterned textiles."

As I read about it I realized I didn’t possess a single bed sheet/cover, a vase, a piece of china, a rug or anything for that matter with a floral pattern. I have never been the types to like floral prints. Do you like floral prints?

But on the other hand i love fresh flowers. I always try and get them home. On big days like Diwali, New Year, etc i always make it a point to go to the Phoolwali mandi at Mehrauli and fill up my home with flowers in every little nook and corner. Even when I don’t have fresh flowers at home I like getting greens from my little garden in the balcony and arranging them in transparent glass vases. So I guess I am more of a fresh flower person and not the pattern types. And I don't think even this trend alert will make me buy stuff with floral designs. What do you think of trends? Will you go and get a little bit of trend in your house even if you are not the type to believe it or you just go with what you like? I'd love to hear about this from you.

Leaving you with some pictures we had taken at a Flower fair. Enjoy.

p.s. Hey, i just found something floral at my place. This batik painting i did at this awesome centre for batik at Kuala Lumpur in 2006. More about this in another post.
