My love affair with baskets

I have always had a certain kind of love affair with baskets. Wicker or woven baskets in neutral colours, palm leaf baskets in bright colours, cardboard baskets with pretty patterns,et al. They only not make my life much simpler ( It helps address the many many OCD’s that I suffer from:)), make my home look clutter free and makes my shelves look pretty. Not that isn't a bad achievement for an ordinary basket.
Plus everyone at home knows what goes where and the smaller stuff never gets lost.

I've been thinking of getting some new ones for our home. And while doing my little research I came across several interesting ones (btw, I came across this site called www.theholdingcompany.co.uk and they have the cutest hat boxes and the trendiest storage baskets for the kitchen, living area, laundry…you think of it and they have it)

Letstart with the heart of the house. The kitchen.
The "make my hear beat faster" egg basket.
saw one in the shape of a hen at a local grocery shop near my home and have been trying to convince (force) the shopkeeper to sell it to me:))
Love the clean arrangement.
The potatoes and the onions at my home would be super happy if they had these for their home
Woven basket heaven or what? The pantry lookso country.
How about these babies for your laundry?
And these for your garden. Quite an interesting idea to try.
 Awesome colour palette.
They will even stand as good as art, won't they? Help..I am in basket heaven.
The cloth ones get my vote too..for magazines
To keep toys...well because  the tiny things using them are so soft and gentle :)
And for storing precious linen or precious jewels
Love love love the lacework feel they've achieved with plastic.
And by that I don't mean that regular plastic baskets can't look good.
You'll see what I mean in just a second
Pretty pretty...didn't I tell you? Its all about arranging them well.
May be one day someone will make these for my office? Anyone listening?
Power of the tiny. Cute little ones at the dinner table.
Seriously, can't get any cuter. Makes me want to throw a party right now:)

Which ones do you like? Do you have several at your home too?

Disclosure : I was compensated to write this post. But really, its something that I had a lot of fun putting together and would have done it anyways:)

Go Green : Storage

Lately I have been going a little crazy de-cluttering. But the hoarder in me couldn't decide what to discard and what to keep. Well, one can always paint a biscuit tin to plant a sapling or use an antique frame to fix a mirror.

Which is when I came across these fabulous ideas for "green" storage. There were tons of them though. I have filtered my favs for you!

Milk Crates!
I am so lurving this milk crate center-table that I don't mind going out and buying several of them to make one. Will it still count as my Go Green initiative? :)

How lovely is this wall storage concept!
A couple of crates, some wooden boxes & tins and we have a kitchen wall to talk about!

Now who wouldn't want to store books in this "ladder-shelf".
I can totally see this happening in my kitchen for that extra zing. Cookbooks on their way!

I am so partial to pretty tins & glass bottles. At times I have been guilty of picking up stuff from the super-mart only because of the tins they came in. Empty coffee tins are something that I haven't been able to throw away. EVER! This is a great idea for storage. Though I would prefer these on the shelf than on the wall like this.

Ever since I saw this ceramic planter being used as a cutlery stand I have been itching to go to my local pottery store and pick these by the dozen. Mmmm...I think I will be buying them this weekend. Will keep you posted. And whats great is that these are planters so they come with a drainage hole which is so very required for dripping spoons! Great find..huh!

Awww...so cute! Masalas (spices) in test tubes. I am not sure if I can live with this arrangement in the long run but right now my heart is going all gooey thinking about these babies.

Which ones do you like? Any favs?  Do you have any chic & pretty storage ideas? Share them with me!
