Dressing up White tableware : Aneela

Do you remember I shared some ideas on using white china ? Don't? Well someone did..and that someone actually mailed the following pics to a friend so that she could mail it across to me ;) Isn't that super sweet?

Aneela recently hosted a dinner and dressed up her white tableware. I love the beige-cream against the white plates. I really like the dry floral stuff that she has used and also the fact the each plate has a different one on it...kind of makes it very cute ;)

A woody tablescape

Here's another tablescape I did a little while back. I wanted to use lots of woody stuff with oranges and yellows to make it cosy.

Tiny folding wooden table from my favorite store, Soul Cabin, orange and brown candles, bright yellow flowers and lots of orange stones decided to come together to make this tablescape. Wooden chopsticks, an orange basket, bread in a crystal vase jumped right in.

Ceramic plates made by me and an attempt at napkin origami. I had these really limp but gorgeous napkins and the only thing that could be done with them was, what you see here ;) Finished with a solitary orange stone.

These wooden coasters were also a lovely find at Soul Cabin. Aren't these pretty? I gifted so many of them this Diwali ;) I hope you enjoyed it. By the way have I told you I have a thing for coasters ;) One day I promise to share my collection here...

Tablescapes with White China

Housebeautiful recently did this exercise, where they asked 15 designers to put together tablescapes using the old favorite white tableware which almost everyone has ( except me i think !!) Here are five of my favorite ones...one can definitely use some of the clever ideas from here at home...to see more hop to housebeautiful.

I like this because of the use of old books and doilies...so pretty

Ah...white and deep red...what art!!

And the overflowing silver bowl of fruits is what makes the tablescape so warm and inviting...don't you agree?

This one has to be my favorite...so casual and so me...

a solid wooden tray, a rolled up newspaper with that toad napkin ring, lots of fresh fruits, a french press and a good morning note...

someone get me breakfast in bed NOW!!

I am not a huge fan of antique stuff..but i definitely like mixing the old with the new...

the white crockery with the antique pewter stuff looks wow

Celebrations = Decor + Food + Family ;)

Yes,celebrations for me are simply three things, Doing up my home, Cooking everything from scratch for the people i love and Spending lots of lovely moments with them. Diwali was just that. And this time around it was just oh-so-special as it was our daughter's first diwali ;)

I had loads of fun lighting up each little nook and corner of my home, putting numerous fairy lights all around and getting the entire stock of the flower-wala inside our home! Of course,the preparations started much before that, with me deciding to make the entire tableware with the help of my two little paws and my potter's wheel ! Yes, yes i know you think i am mad, my sister thinks the same...but well i am a little crazy when it comes to doing stuff for my home...

Since Diwali came a little too early this year and its still so very hot at Delhi...i decided not to use any orange, pink or gold...i felt just too hot looking at these bright colors...the theme had to be cream and white...that would go perfectly with the deep brown and cream handcrafted studio pottery i had made especially for the big day...Have put together some snaps for all of you...i hope you enjoy looking at them as much i enjoyed putting it all together!!

Tealight holders: Cylinders made on the wheel and later cut by hand & brushed with tenmoku.Tilted bowl wheel thrown, outside tenmoku and inside a crystalline glaze.

Deep brown bottle-flower vase : Wheel thrown and later flattened. And Another handcrafted tall tealight holder...The tall cream mug like thing that you see is actually a 1.5 litre huge beer mug my husband picked from Germany...i thought it went with the cream and brown theme...he ofcourse was very disturbed seeing flowers in it instead of beer ;)

Rectangular plates made by using a hump mould and glazed crystalline. The bowl in the background was wheel thrown and glazed using Bryanston. And thats a little coaster that you can see behind the glasses...these were made by the slab method.

Finally the entire tablescape : Dinner plates again wheel thrown.Can you see the platter i showed you earlier here ? ;) Everything was wood fired at 1280 degrees.

How can i miss the food...huh!!!

Some more chalkboard

If you recall some days back I did this post, Perfect for décor and function. It had a lot of stuff that was made from chalkboard. Now imagine my joy when I came across this!!!

Yes! you are seeing a Chalkboard dining table. I came across this at design sponge and had to - had to share this with all of you. It has been conceptualized by Kate and her partner. They found a plain looking wooden table and made it into this masterpiece.

This is supercute. I will be honest though, I am way too much in love with my round glass-wood dining table and can’t see myself trading it with the chalkboard one but I can definitely see myself making this for my seven month old daughter. I can imagine her sitting at it with a glass of milk and a sandwich...both marked clearly ;) some years later ofcourse !

Ooooo...i love love love this. The arrows, the boxes et al.

To create this fun table, after sanding and priming, simply add two coats of custom chalkboard paint and let it dry for 2-3 days. After which curing needs to be done and it’s ready.
