Egg Heaven

Warning : What you are about to see may leave you completely breathless.

I came across this Easter Egg Store (At Judengasse) when we had gone to Salzburg. And once inside the store I was REALLY drooling. Who wouldn't! Each piece was a work of art. Each one hand decorated. And wherever one looked you could only see Gorgeous Eggs. Heaps & Heaps of them. Some waiting to be delivered in pretty cartons. Others hanging from numerous trees. What was this, Egg Heaven!

So if anyone of you is planning a vacation in that side of the world DO visit them. They also ship...now I have made you happy:)

A Store with an attitude : Play Clan

This weekend I happened to be at a fair organized by the Akshay Pratishthan . For those of you who are in and around Delhi and are suckers for anything creative or handcrafted, the name will be definitely familiar. They have been doing some really wonderful work all these years.  But today this post is not about them. Its about this amazingly creative and edgy booth I saw there. Play Clan.

I have to admit I had not seen there stuff before. Yes! I am bending my head in shame right now. They have been around and this was the first time I saw their awesome products. Its a fashion, art and design store all rolled into one. I really loved all of their products. The India twist, the colors, the humor...

They say, " Play clan is a space where you don’t see the crazy designers but you do see what they like and what they make.  Hand picked items by globe trotting; carefully chosen design, art and fashion books; graphic novels and comics; art shirts; hand painted shoes; played upon cushions, funky journals & doodle notebooks, crazy creature lamps and countless other things topped with oodles of madness and passion is what you get here."

Winners of Elle Decor EDIDA Award, they have even been invited to participate at the Ambiente Fair at Frankfurt.

So, without testing any more of your patience let me show you some of their crazy-whacky-edgy-arty products.

Tees ( I love the shot!) &  lovely tote bags

Urban Wall Art & Cushions

Oh! How i heart their stationery line.

And now some shots of their store...

Some more!

They have a store at the Select City Mall, New Delhi. Yes! I will be going there soon. And guess what! you may even buy their products online here. They offer worldwide delivery.

Want another good news! All shipping within India is FREE! Its an introductory offer. So hurry up and check it out! And yes, you may all thank me for this post ;)

Urlis...not just one!!

Come Diwali...and all of us start thinking of urlis we want to buy and flowers and candles we'd like to float in them. They are just so versatile and always add that special touch to our homes...festivals or otherwise.

So, when i came across this oh-so-very-gorgeous brass urlis in so many different sizes (Just see the biggest one..whoa!!), chained to this warm golden yellow garden wall, i just had to share this with you.

What a lovely idea!! Who says urlis are only for festivals ???

Welcome to sensible shopping

I was at Bangalore last week and my love for home decor and organic stuff took me to Mother Earth. Floors and floors of absolutely lovely stuff. They say "We believe that Nature provides for all, as long as we give back as much as we take." What a beautiful thought and an equally divine store to match it. The store works under three concepts, Earth Fashion, Earth Home and Earth Food.

I spent a wonderful afternoon there and shopped like crazy. For those of you who haven't been to the store, here are some pics of the store to make you green with envy (Yes, i am wicked!!)

Adorable little fishes, interesting cushions, lamps, bling necklaces, colorful dupattas, lovely book shelves and painted pots; they had it all

Awesome furniture and do check out those tall lamps...v v pretty

Yummy!!! What pretty colors...mats, cushions, table runners, storage boxes, chatais and so much more

My favorite...Studio pottery. Also seen here paintings and tiny cushions and table mats

Some more gorgeous stuff...

Mother Earth has its stores here. And you can read more about them here.

What a Store-Y !!

When working, I used to frequently travel to Mumbai. During one such visit I had the opportunity to pop in at “Tribal Route – A handcrafted store-Y”. At the time I visited the store they had these two amazing cottages converted into stores. I believe they have added a third one sometime back. The store is Nihar Mehta’s and Mamta’s baby who call themselves the froggies. They actually met online!! I had the lovely chance to meet both of them. It’s the prettiest store I have ever seen and I could actually live there ;) The colors, the textures and the imagination with which the store had been conceptualized is exceptional. One of the cottages also has this airy courtyard where they hold these get-togethers of artisans & friends. The store houses handcrafted stuff from artists across the country. Every now and then they hold these unique festivals showcasing different kinds of products (Paper products, Terracotta, Jewellery, Cushions, footwear, ceramics, furnishings, et al). And yes there are to products fit every wallet

They can be reached at: Tribal Route, 18, 22 & 29 Aram Nagar 2, Jaiprakash (JP) Road, Machlimar, Versova, Andheri (W), Mumbai. Telephone: 9967058847/48
Website:

Enjoy the store.

Believing in your dreams

Seems like this month is going to be full of catching up with lots of creative people...some known to me and some new friends. Last week I met a friend from school after some good, ten and a half years!!

Of course I need not say how thrilled I was just to see her. And like how it is with school friends, you just don’t mind the years and pick up from you left, well the same happened with us. There was so much to share ;)

So today I’d like all of you to know more about this really talented friend, Anusha. She studied fashion designing at NIFT ( While there, she won the Director’s Special Award for her graduating collection and a special mention for “The most commercially viable collection”). After working for about 2 years she launched her own label “ANUSHA” and started retailing in leading boutiques in the country. While still working she met her husband Janne and later moved with him to Germany. Today she has her lovely store at Frankfurt and clients at New York, Korea, Japan, Switzerland, Australia, London and Hong Kong!! And has huge expansion plans this year. Anusha designs while Janne takes care of the distribution aspect. What a lovely couple ;)
Pictures of her store that she mailed me long time back
I simply loved her work (I met her at her Delhi production unit and saw glimpses of her AW’08 collection). She blends European cuts with traditional Indian motifs and patterns. You can see her work at www.anushadesigns.com

And like all of us, she too was scared when taking this really big risk of starting her store but she believed in her dreams and with lots and lots of hardwork…rewards followed ;) I wish her many many more stores this year and cheers to all of us who are trying to follow their dreams ;))
