Diwali wishes coming your way.

Diwali is round the corner...twinkling diyas, homemade mithais, marigolds, exchanging  thoughtful gifts with family, friends and most importantly with all the people who help us each day and so much more.

Diwali for me also means making handmade cards for loved ones.

Sharing some that I have made over the years. Do you make Diwali cards too?

Also dear readers, have you voted for purplehomes for the GoodHomes Awards 2013, yet?

And now for a twelve month wait.

I hope each of you had the loveliest Diwali ever...lots of diyas & candles, tons of mithai & ofcourse your family & friends all around you.

After a longish weekend, I am back with some glimpses of Diwali at my home.

White Gerberas, strings of tuberoses hugging my tiny red cage-lanterns, diyas and another red glass lantern.
These made our Diwali.

A little  more red, a little more white & a little more glow!

Ofcourse the food had to be served on red plates :)

Flower Rangoli, pretty little somethings floating in the urli, lots of conch shaped diyas and terracotta lanterns adorned our entrance

I couldn't have left the tealights out of my favorite festival.

And now for a twelve month wait...not fair:(

I am linking this to Patty's Weekend party, Sharon & Rekha's November fest & Emreen's Festival time. Do check out their lovely blogs for lots of tabletop inspiration.

Revisiting Diwali 2009

First things first. A BIG thank you to everyone who hopped over to Blogadda to read my guest post : This Diwali , Dress up your home. You guys made my day & diya-lit evenings:)

An now lets rewind to last year for more Diwali ideas.

This post is all about Diwali decor at my home last year. I had so much fun making the entire dinner set, tealight holders & vases by hand. Yes! I am little mad.See more here.

Some more candle decor ideas to get you all started for the BIG day. Read the entire post here.

And finally when we are talking about celebrating...can it be complete without gifting our loved one? So let's revisit a Gift wrapping guide I did as guest post last year.I hope these will give you tons of ideas to make your giftwraps pretty:) Check it out here.

Though on the work front its been kind of little crazy and I think thats how its going to be but ME being ME I managed to find ENOUGH time to go to both the Shilpoutsav & the Blind School Mela during the week. Well even it meant working through out the night. The first one was a little of a disappointment & the latter was exceptionally good.

I hope you enjoy this little recap from the past.

Celebrations = Decor + Food + Family ;)

Yes,celebrations for me are simply three things, Doing up my home, Cooking everything from scratch for the people i love and Spending lots of lovely moments with them. Diwali was just that. And this time around it was just oh-so-special as it was our daughter's first diwali ;)
I had loads of fun lighting up each little nook and corner of my home, putting numerous fairy lights all around and getting the entire stock of the flower-wala inside our home! Of course, the preparations started much before that, with me deciding to make the entire tableware with the help of my two little paws and my potter's wheel ! Yes, yes i know you think i am mad, my sister thinks the same...but well i am a little crazy when it comes to doing stuff for my home...
Since Diwali came a little too early this year and its still so very hot at Delhi...i decided not to use any orange, pink or gold...i felt just too hot looking at these bright colors...the theme had to be cream and white...that would go perfectly with the deep brown and cream handcrafted studio pottery i had made especially for the big day...Have put together some snaps for all of you...i hope you enjoy looking at them as much i enjoyed putting it all together!!

Tealight holders: Cylinders made on the wheel and later cut by hand & brushed with tenmoku.Tilted bowl wheel thrown, outside tenmoku and inside a crystalline glaze.

Deep brown bottle-flower vase : Wheel thrown and later flattened. And Another handcrafted tall tealight holder...The tall cream mug like thing that you see is actually a 1.5 litre huge beer mug my husband picked from Germany...i thought it went with the cream and brown theme...he ofcourse was very disturbed seeing flowers in it instead of beer ;)

Rectangular plates made by using a hump mould and glazed crystalline. The bowl in the background was wheel thrown and glazed using Bryanston. And thats a little coaster that you can see behind the glasses...these were made by the slab method.

Finally the entire tablescape : Dinner plates again wheel thrown. Can you see the platter i showed you earlier here ? ;) Everything was wood fired at 1280 degrees.

How can i miss the food...huh!!!

I hope each one of you had a lovely Diwali...lots and lots of good wishes for the rest of the year !! More pics later ;)
